Self Feeding...What a MESS!!!

About 2 months ago, we tried to let Brooke eat with a fork and a spoon with her food in a plate. The only thing she wanted to do was throw the plate, so I decided to wait until now to try again. I just laughed looking back over these pictures from dinner tonight! What a mess!!!

The before picture!

It amazes me how she knows to pick the fork up and scoop up food, but somehow the food goes into her hand then her mouth.

I think she was enjoying this a little too much!

This was the picture that cracked me up. She has food all down her sleeve!! ;)

Notice the fork in her right hand, but all the food is in the left hand.

Brooke's self feeding video.

After dinner, I had the pleasure of cleaning up her highchair and surrounding area while Daddy gave Brooke her bath. As I cleaning up, I heard Brooke laughing at silly sounds her Daddy was making. I tried to take a secret video but Brooke caught me. They were so cute in the bathroom!!

The First Day of Spring

Our first outing for the day was Kalyn's 9th birthday party. I was happily assigned the task of making Kalyn's birthday cake. She loves Jessie from Toy Story, so my sister and I found a cake that was perfect. All I had to do now was make it!! I finished the cake Friday night and then we headed to the party with the cake in tow!

Kalyn's birthday cake. I think it turned out quite well!!

Mom and I left shortly after this picture was taken headed to Kohl's for a little shopping. Poor Brooke was so exhausted after being up for 6+ hours with no nap. She fell asleep before we ever got out of the neighborhood! Jeff was due to arrive from Germany at 4:30ish from what he told me the last time we talked, so I wanted to leave Kohl's in time to watch the plane come in. After a little shopping we headed to the base. After waiting for over an hour (plane was late) they finally arrived! I know my Mom was having a grand old time sitting in the car with Brooke and I watching an empty flight line (thanks for tagging along Mom!) After was seemed like forever, Jeff got off the plane and was done with customs! Brooke and I met Jeff at the gate leading from the flight line. Brooke was excited to see her Daddy after being gone 5 days!

After giving Daddy a 5 minute break and a shower, we headed to Macon for the annual Balloon glow. We met up with my sister, Kalyn, Gavin and 2 of Kalyn's friends. Gavin really enjoyed the balloons. He thought they were "cool" as he repeated every time they lit up!!! Brooke passed out on the way home! She had a very long and exciting day! Welcome home Daddy!!

2 major accomplishments for my big girl!!!

As you all know, Brooke has been working with a physical therapist for months. In the last few days, I have noticed her attempting a lot of new things. Earlier this evening I sat her in her bed so I could get her blue pillow out of the washer and into the dryer without her seeing it. I was out of the room for a minute, when right back in to get her and she was STANDING!!! I was so proud of her!!!! Jeff had lowered the bed when she started sitting up but I guess now it needs to be dropped to the lowest level!

Brooke standing up in her crib. I love how excited she gets at herself when she does a BIG GIRL accomplishment. Excuse her hair, I had two barrettes in her hair which she pulled out, so we used a headband to keep her hair out of her eyes.

***Brooke's second big accomplishment is that she used the adult potty!!! During dinner, Brooke was showing signs of a "surprise in her diaper." I kept checking, but nothing. After a couple hours I gave up and put her in the bath. Now, we have never had a "floating surprise" (well, other than the mouse). In the middle of her bath, I start noticing the signs of an upcoming surprise. She was pushing and had her legs straight and toes pointed!! I immediately grabbed her up, sat her on the toilet and WHALA!! If only this was a permanent thing!!! She seemed proud that she went poopy in the potty!! I'm glad I saw the signs. I think I would rather have a mouse floating in my tub!!! LOL

What happens when Daddy babysits!

I had a hair appointment to go to and since Daddy didn't have to be at work until 2pm, he said he would watch her. He called me while I was on my way home and told me that Brooke was in her high chair, he left the room for a minute and she had an accident! Immediately I think she fell out of her chair!! He told me to check the camera when I got home. My sister came over to relieve Jeff so he could get to work. I walk in the door and my sister tells me to check the camera. Below is what I find!lol...Don't men ever learn??? Never leave anything within reach of a child. Brooke may have rolls in her arms, but believe me, they are longer than they appear!!

I'm actually surprised this was as bad as it was. She did have a little in her hair, but not too bad!

HAHA Daddy!! You have to clean it up!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

We just wanted to say a quick hello and Happy St. Patty's Day! Brooke grabbed the hat off her dresser before it was time to eat. I put it on her head, showed her in the mirror and she loved it. She wore it all through dinner! My little ham!!!

Our last day with the puppy!

She was such a cutie!!!

She really liked Brooke!

I took the puppy to my parent's house so the kids could play with her. Kalyn really took to the puppy! The puppy was worn out after round 1 of chasing Kalyn.

She had her cheeks propped up on the corner of the box! It was so cute!!

Shelby and the puppy getting some last minute fun in before I had to take the puppy to it's new temporary owner.

Jeff found the puppy in our backyard on Wednesday. By Saturday she was starting to get playful at our house. She really opened up on Sunday with the kids. They begged Jeff and I to keep the puppy, but we have our hands full with Dutch. Shelby was petting her when I had her in the car to leave and said "I'll never wash this hand again!" How sweet!!
